I’ve Taken to My Bed!
Sounds so dramatic, doesn’t it? I’ve taken to my bed. Not because I’m ill or have been afflicted with anything. It’s due to the LORD suggesting I write from here. haha
I’m here because He wants to chat about dreams. Seems a fitting place to hold such a conversation. It all came about while doing quiet time with my daughter the other morning. We were reading Daniel 2, where Nebuchadnezzar is asking magicians, enchanters and astrologers to interpret a dream he had. They said the king was asking an impossible task and they wouldn’t be able to do such a thing. They were promptly put to death, along with all the other magicians, enchanters and astrologers.
Enter Daniel. Asking the commander of the kings death squad why such a harsh response to the kings request? He asks to be brought before the king to interpret the dream. It’s granted, but before he does, Daniel goes home to his friends and asks them to get before the LORD and pray for wisdom and discernment about the dream with him. That night, the LORD reveals the mystery of the dream to him. This allows Daniel to go before the king and explain the dream. Thus granting favor to Daniel, his friends and saving the rest of the wisemen of Babylon.
Why do I tell you that story? Well one, the LORD told me to, but two it brings to mind the things we need to do in order to see our dreams come to fruition.
I’m in a really strange place right now. I am waking up every morning doing only that which I feel the LORD is leading me to do. It’s scary, but as of right now it doesn’t bring in any sort of income. What it does do is help me see my dreams. I have so many, those that need interpretation and those the LORD has put on my heart. I have dreams in the night that show where He wants to take me and I have dreams I hope I see come to pass for me and my family and I have dreams that I wake up wondering what I had for dinner. All dreams are meant to be hashed out, but they’re not meant to be hashed out alone.
This story reminds me I am to go before the LORD, ask Him for His help, and then call up my posse. Those people that I can rely on to pray for me, speak into my life and come along side of me so I can be brought to the place the LORD has for me, and them. When we do the things He is calling us to do, He brings along the people that can help us achieve that, along with helping them achieve their dreams.
You may feel as though you don’t dream at night, but I bet you dream during the day. I bet you have places you want to see and be in life. THOSE ARE DREAMS. Not all dreams need an interpretation, but they need you and others praying into it to see them realized in your life. I urge you to find your posse. Find people that will champion for you and speak into your life in a God-filled, healthy way. We all need that!
Dreams are not meant to be left in the night or even on the shelf, they are meant to prayed into and walked out. I have so many of them! I dream of teaching and writing and having a food show and loving my family well and helping people and seeing the hurting healed and the lost saved. I have dreams of living in a lovely house on the coast somewhere running a bed and breakfast. I have dreams of loads of friends, family and strangers gathered around a HUGE table in my home eating amazing food and loving on each other. These are all dreams I have in the night and durning the day. These are dreams that bring me to tears as I write because I know these are my hopes AND DREAMS. These are the things I need my posse for. These are crazy things magicians, enchanters and astrologers say may be impossible to accomplish. But if I go before the LORD, ask for His wisdom and have my friends ask as well… I can see these dreams realized!
It seems a lot, “I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.” (Phil. 4:12-13 The Passion Translation)
GO AFTER YOUR DREAMS! God planted them in you for a reason. (I’m speaking to myself here) It’s scary, may be difficult and could even bring on some lack, but when you have your posse and God, you’re NEVER in lack. He’ll give you the EXPLOSIVE POWER it takes to conquer it ALL. The fears, uncertainty, worry and maybe even loss. Don’t let those things stop you!
YOU HAVE A DREAM! GO GET IT!
